Man City crowned carabao cup winners three times in a row

Manchester City’s 2-1 victory at Wembley yesterday against Aston villa secured them their third League Cup win in succession and their fourth in five years with Aguero once again proving to be the man for all occasions with his predatory strike.

Aston villa almost snatched a late equalizer in the final minutes of normal time through Bjorn Engels but Bravo somehow tipped onto the post.

Manchester City are the second side to win three consecutive League Cups after Liverpool between the 1980-81 and 1983-84 seasons four in a row while Aston Villa’s Mbwana Samatta becomes the fifth different African player to score in a League Cup final, after Didier Drogba (four), Joseph-Desire Job, Obafemi Martins and Yaya Toure.

City won a historic treble of domestic trophies last season with the Premier League and FA Cup. They have added the League Cup to the Community Shied they won earlier in the season.
