Uber to axe 3000 more jobs

Uber Technologies Inc., commonly known as Uber is an American multinational ride-hailing company offering services that include peer-to-peer ride-sharing, ride service hailing, food delivery, and a micro-mobility system with electric bikes and scooters.

The company is one of those affected with the effects of coronavirus that has affected the economy globally hence announcing axing another 3,000 jobs taking the total it has cut during the virus crisis to 6,700.

Even though the firm has managed to gain a 50 per cent increase in orders from its Uber Eats food delivery arm, the company at the same time has been hit hard by travel restrictions that have paralyzed taxi business hard and hampered its plans to become profitable.

Uber boss Dara Khosrowshahi reported that the firm had taken the incredibly difficult decision to scrap the jobs making really hard choices so that they can move forward, and start to build again with confidence as an email send to employees reveals that the US firm will shut up to 45 offices around the world and potentially scale back ‘non-core’ divisions such as freight.
